August 6-12 is National Farmers Market Week! Farmers markets are changing the way we eat, shop, connect, and more! Across the country, farmers markets are defining their role in our communities. Markets are not only essential to local food systems, but are increasing opportunities for us to learn, grow, and work together. Farmers markets are designed in partnership with the people they serve, and create a space where market operators, farmers, shoppers, and neighbors can collaborate to meet the evolving needs of their community.
The Bethel Park Farmers’ Market is proud to connect with the community to bring our shoppers exactly what they need. The expanded market this season brings a bigger variety of vendors than ever before, and our partnership with FAM allows SNAP and EBT shoppers to make their dollars go even further in purchasing fresh, healthy options. We are so grateful for the support of our loyal shoppers!
What are your “must haves” at the market? Do you have a fabulous recipe featuring market ingredients that you would like to share? Email us at farmersmarket@bethelpark.net and share your recipe (pictures encouraged!) and you could be featured on our upcoming recipe blog!
This week the market features our Half A vendors, as well as visiting vendors Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Truck, Whimsical Wardrobe Boutique, and Future Farms. Our musical guest is Harry Funk. To celebrate National Farmers Market Week, we will feature a live cooking demo with Jon Lloyd (Holy Smokes BBQ) using many market ingredients to make a delicious meal!
As always, market vendors are not permitted to sell until 3pm – we love the excitement of the early birds but remind you that we do this to allow all vendors ample time for setup.
We can’t wait to see you there!
