Following the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War, Joe stayed in Pittsburgh and began working at his brother’s bakery, which opened in 1969. Joe would eventually go on to buy the business from his brother and open Pitaland, one of Brookline’s most enduring businesses and a neighborhood landmark. Jumping to today, Scorch proudly displays a variety of hot sauces, all while tickling our taste buds with fresh nachos, tacos, and more at the market.

Chimney Cakery
Chimney Cakes, traditionally referred to as kürtőskalács, date back to Medieval times in Transylvania, and are officially the oldest pastry in Hungary. Fresh, handmade dough is wrapped around a wooden roller and then covered in fine sugar. The heat of the fire caramelizes the sugar, creating a crunchy exterior shell while keeping the inside light and fluffy. Once cooked, the cakes are covered in cinnamon sugar or other toppings, and can be filled with delicious spreads. We immediately knew we wanted to bring these tasty treats back home with us to share across the Pittsburgh Metro area.
